Happy Thanksgiving

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

It is the time of the year we reflect and give thanks for life and its gifts. During this pandemic that might be hard to do, as many have lost family and friends. Suffered financial and emotional hardship. Myself I put my focus on gratitude.

Gratitude: pausing to notice and appreciate the things that i often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, clean water, friends, family, even computer access. Gratitude is a positive emotion. It’s about focusing on what’s good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have.

I am grateful for:

The love and affection of family and friends.

Living in beautiful Victoria, BC Canada’

Having science and caring medical teams.

Having food in my cupboard and fridge.

Money in my bank account.

Having access to a vaccine to counter the Corona Virus.

The freedom of having a holiday to focus on Thanksgiving.

With gratitude I wish you a safe and peaceful thanks giving, Geoffrey

PS. What are you grateful for?

Note: Thanksgiving has been around for a long-time, it has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday as well.

Historically the peoples of the world have taken time to give thanks for the bounty of nature and life. Gratitude for life itself.

Thanksgiving is a celebrated on various dates in the Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia, and United States. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival holidays occur in Germany and Japan.

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and around the same part of the year in other places.
